UNION OF UNITED HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES EMPLOYEES

Independent union of civil servants organized in health branch. After the establishment of SES, founded by the unification of four unions affiliated to KESK, a group of healt employees have left SES and founded Birlesik Saglik-Is on September 1, 1997.

The founders are Fazli Zoraloglu, Naci Basar, Cengiz Dingil, Figen Yolcu, Mevlüt Toprak, Mustafa Korkmaz, Necmettin Göymen, Haci Dertsiz and Mehmet Bozkurt. The board elected at the extraordinary assembly of the founders held on October 18, 1997 is composed of Kamil Kaya (chairman), Figen Yolcu (general secretary), Tekin Selim, Süha Oktay, Ibrahim Mutlusahinoglu, Irfan Batmaz, Edip Kadioglu, Mahmut Candanoglu and Arif Güler.

The union has branches in Istanbul, Izmir, Sakarya, Corum, Rize, Trabzon, Giresun, Kütahya, Aydin, Konya, Hatay and Ankara; representatives in Arhavi and Denizli.

It reported 3,000 members; and publishes a bulletin called „Birlesik Saglik-Is" twice a month.

Independent union of civil servants founded in 1993 to organize academic staff of universities.

The union held general assembly meetings in 1994 and on January 10, 1998. The board elected at the last congress is composed of Osman Durmus, Azmi Yetim, Haluk Tokucoglu, Riza Ayhan, E. Semih Yalcin, Temel Calik, Sükrü Koc, Mustafa Yilmaz, Hanefi Tokgöz, Ismet Cetin, Ahmet Aliclar, Ömer Faruk Bay, Güner Ekenci, Ulvi Reha Fidanci, Orhan Canpolat, Ahmet Ali Öcal, Suayip Karakas, Abdurrahman Okur, Mehmet Sezen and Ali Fuat Ersoy.

The union, which is organized in provinces, has branches in Canakkale, Elazig, Konya and Malatya.

It reported 5,000 members, and publishes a monthy periodical called „Akademik Bakis" and a news bulletin.
