Media Statement - 28 October 2003
The ALP and Saatchi & Saatchi Australia today jointly announced that Saatchi & Saatchi will step down as the ALP's national advertising agency.
The ALP believes that a "virtual agency" structure going forward to the next election, (i.e. working with a small number of freelance researchers, strategists, creatives) is more suited to its needs, and Saatchi & Saatchi has agreed to facilitate this transition.
ALP National Secretary, Tim Gartrell, has placed on record the ALP's appreciation of the professionalism and commitment of Saatchi & Saatchi.
"Saatchi & Saatchi have provided the ALP with the highest standards of creative input and strategic insights in a very difficult campaign environment.
"The decision to end our formal relationship is both mutual and amicable."
Sandra Yates, Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi Australia, said, "It was a privilege to work with the ALP on the 1998 and 2001 elections. We part on good terms, and we wish them well in the next Federal election."
