Editorial We are pleased to announce the arrival of the new Labor; clear, more readable and we hope, more attractive to our current as well as future readers. It has a more fluid and journalistic style : the columns that recur in each edition are just begging to be read. From the wide variety of subjects, one can sense the serious approach. The practical lives of workers, anecdotes and personal impressions are also featured. A few pages are also devoted to training procedures. Our quarterly bulletin is not the only thing to have been transformed ; the World Confederation of Labour has revolutionised its policy on information. The WCL produces two publications on a regular basis. The first one is Teleflash, which is a bi-monthly newsletter on internal affairs. From now on it will be more geared towards affiliated members and close associates of the organisation. Labor now envisages two types of readership that may not be easy to win over, but we are up to the challenge. These, as has always been the case, are trade union officials as well as readers (such as individuals, researchers, civil servants, journalists etc) who may have a personal or professional interest in labour issues in the wider sense.
Labor is particularly interested in changing its approach to the issues it reports on. The bottom line is information, pure and simple, and not propaganda for the WCL and the stands that it takes. Viewpoints of the WCL will be clearly identified as such. Sources of all material will be quoted, without exception. We aim for seriousness and credibility, which however cannot be achieved in a day.
This particular issue, produced within a limited time, is as a matter of fact not perfect. The French expression, “ occupying the house before the plaster is dry ” describes our first try experiencing growing pains, with much room for improvement. We are eager to receive your comments, both positive and negative. It is one way of supporting this effort. Another way is by promoting the circulation of this magazine and soliciting subscriptions. Our new image has taken our organisation a lot of hard work, but we believe it has been well worth the effort. I wish you enjoyable reading.

Sec. General of the World Confederation of Labour
