Overview on the organizational development

Asia-Pacific Socialist Organization

The first conference of this second attempt to establish a regional organization of the Socialist International in Asia and the Pacific was held in Sydney, Australia, in February 1981. The second conference was held in Kuala Lumpur in 1985, but also this conference had no decisive effect on further co-operation.
In 1988 the Australian and New Zealand Labour Parties founded a new "Association of South Pacific Progressive Parties". After the SI Congress 1996 in New York it was decided to regroup and the "Socialist International Asia-Pacific Committee" was founded.
There are no known archival collections for the APSO.
