Socialist International - A Bibliography
Overview on the organizational development

International Union of Socialist Educators

The IUSE was founded at a conference in 1951 and is, in principle, a worldwide International but originally most West-European organizations became members; however, it has members and contacts in up to thirty countries. IUSE is an associated member of the SI. According to the editorial in the "IUSDE Report" no. 1(1981), nothing was published by the IUSE before this first number.
The IUSE organizes thematic conferences almost every year. Moreover, it has prepared a programme for socialist education. In December 1970 it founded the "Commission of Socialist Teachers in the European Union", whose publications are included in the bibliography. In 1992, two other commissions were founded: the "Commission of Socialist Teachers in Latin America" and the "Commission of Socialist Teachers in Africa".
There is no archive, but various papers may be found in the archives of Piet van den Eynde, chairman 1973-1976, in the AMSAB. Likewise some papers from the 1960s to the 1990s are in the ABA.
